mounties kill man with taser

The debate about the use of Taser in the law enforcement community has been in full flow for a while now. Most British forces will not issue them to officers who do not routinely carry firearms, although the trial has been extended to non-AFOs (Authorized Firearms Officers) in recent weeks.

A video on YouTube (which, for the sake of sensitivity, I will not link to, but it can be found by searching "RCMP Taser death video released to public" on YouTube) and BBC News report demonstrates how it can get out of control and go wrong very quickly in situations requiring the use of non-lethal restraint equipment.

In all honesty, I don't know how I feel about this particular event, but know for sure it has made me think about whether I could ever carry and use a firearm in the line of duty

a chocolate vehicle? is it a double decker?

BBC News reports that two adventurers from Poole are attempting to drive from Great Britain to Mali in a lorry powered by chocolate.

Well, not by chocolate as such, but by bio-fuel created from 4,000 kg of misshapen chocolates.

They used the equivalent of 80,000 chocolate bars to create 2,000 litres of bio-diesel to fuel their trip.

Let's hope this project gives the 'boost' to bio-fuels for the future - maybe one day we could have a rocket leaving Mars behind as it journeys into the Milky Way!

in 1 day

I have achieved a goal today - I am now defib trained once again!
It was a risky 6 days for the people of Paddington but fear no more, for I am now qualified to electrocute people!

(But only if they are suffering from ventricular tachycardia or ventricular defibrillation and not if they have sinus rhythm or are asystolic)

following the trend

Like many other fellow bloggers have done, I seem to be blogging for the sake of it.
This, however, isn't true

I have something to say - I am not blogging much because I am working too hard/much

Today was day 7 of an 8 day stretch at work - 80 hours of fun filled crime fighting all crammed into the time when I am not sleeping or eating.

So I will blog later in the week with thoughts on the previous few days - I guess this serves as a warning/teaser trailer
