afghan commander killed

BBC News reports that an Afghan Taleban commander has been killed in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.

There is one slight problem. The bloke's name. He was called Mullah Dadullah.

Now I appreciate that the UN and America need to justify called the Taleban evil and still considering it a threat, but they could make up a more plausible name for the bad guy.

I can almost hear the conversation in a New York office, late last night

UN Bloke 1: "What about Marty Al-Party?"
UN Bloke 2: "Nope - far too frivoulous"
UN Bloke 1: "Willy McNilly?"
UN Bloke 2: "Too Scottish"
UN Bloke 1: "Mullah... Dadullah?"
UN Bloke 2: "Yeah, that will do nicely. Send it to CNN, Reuters and the BBC..."

Tim, just reading through your past bloggs and noticed your entry for June 27th 2004!
A few questions...
1) Was I really blushing?
2) Am I really unsubtle?
3) Did I really say "Hello Sexpot"?
4) Aren't you amazed at the speed of a response to that blogg? Almost 3 years later!!!!

Hope you are well and enjoying life in sunny Camberwell.
