prisons, poverty and police

Greetings blog fans!

First of all has to be my sincerest apologies for a distinct lack of blogging in the past few weeks. There has been heaps of stuff going on, details of some of those will be detailed shortly.

BBC News reports today that the government's scheme of floating prisons is back on the agenda. No doubt some of my police colleagues will suggest that the only improvement would be to put holes in the sides.

As a follow up to the 'Make Poverty History' campaign, which became somethibng of a damp squib following the Olympic 2012 decision and last year's bombings, Bono has launched an initiative called (RED). This is being supported by some big multinational corporations including Motorola, Apple and Gap. There is a blog here on Blogger about it, as well as an official website.

Earlier in the week I was in Cardiff for an interview with South Wales Police, or Heddlu De Cymru as the, er, Welsh would say. It went well and I am fairly confident that I sold myself sufficiently to get the job. I will keep you posted!
